Wakeboard Pro Tour

The Pro Wakeboard tour will be at Allatoona this weekend. Details can be found athttp://www.acworth.com/pro-wakeboard-tour/ In the past it has been a ton of fun to watch, and it’s really neat to see what a big audience wake boarding and water skiing can have.

GT Spring Tournament at Whitestone Apr 12th.

This upcoming Saturday, the Georgia Tech team will be hosting a SAC 3-event tournament at White Stone Lake Estates. Men’s Slalom will start off the dock at 8am. Directions to the site are below.

Keep in mind that if you are competing from any school, you will need to have a letter of elgibility from your school’s registrar showing your full time, good standing, above a 2.0 status. Your team captain is probably arranging this, GT Skiers, ask Matt or Michael.

March 23 : Auburn Tournament in Tallapoosa, Al
April 6th : Rollins Tournament
April 13th: GT Tournament, Whitestone, Talking, Rock GA
We’re hosting this with some coordination with Kennesaw.
A team and B team skiers welcome.
It’s about an hour away.
April 20th: Possible Clemson Tournament
May 18th: All Stars

Gloves
We’re skiing hard, and between waterlog, tight grips, and thousands of pounds of resistance, gloves wear out over the years. Talk to your skier to decide between Kevlar and Masterlock Pro Curves.

It’s a lot more awesome when we can share more videos and footage with you. But we probably lost the one we already had to the lake.

Georgia Tech Tournament Sept 15th

This upcoming Saturday, the Georgia Tech team will be hosting a SAC 3-event tournament at White Stone Lake Estates. Men’s Slalom will start off the dock at 8am. Directions to the site are below. Last week had over 75 skiers and we expect similar numbers.

The tournament at College of Charleston went well and was a lot of fun. Matt Edwards and a few others of the team had a chance and peer pressure to jump for the first time

Spring Review

GT Waterski Tournament At Whitestone

The Spring season is over except for a few lucky skiers making it to the All Stars tournament in May.

Two Georgia Tech Skiers, David Esposito (Slalom, Trick, and Jump) and Michael Kennedy (Slalom, Trick), will be competing on May 19th at Borderline, Wa. Additionally, Justin Fletcher qualified trick.

As you complete finals, remember that if you’re going to be a student or intern during the summer (and pay your athletic fee) that we have two boats on the water now that will be a lot of fun.

We also submitted a bid to host another tournament in the Fall. We’ll update you as it approaches.

Spring Is In The Air

We put the Moomba Outback in the water on March 10th, and have been riding several times so far. The winter was so warm, that some of us are skipping the whole wet suit or spring suit stage and going straight to just a top.

There are some awesome pictures on there way of Stewart doing some great backrolls and 360s, Nick doing awesome kick flips, and me doing some cuts for a few seconds before I’m tired and out of breath. Hey, it was my first time of the season, I’m still getting back in shape.

In other news, we have a bill in front of SGA for some funding, we have a few members going to OWC for spring break.

The College of Charleston tournament is coming up on the 24th, email David if you’re interested (see the list emails.) Our tournament is coming up on April 14th – and it’s going to be at Whitestone Lake Estates.

Winter 2011-2012

It’s the off-season, we’ll be waiting until early march to get the boats back in the water. In the meantime, make sure that you’re staying fit and consider going snow skiing at the Mid-winter meeting.

Boat Show

The Atlanta Boat Show was at the Georgia World Congress Center January 12th-15th. Unfortunately, the wake show (which was going to use overhead cables instead of the grinch) was canceled after one of the 100,000 gallon pools collapsed.

Many of the club checked out some of the newest lineups and we ran into friends – alumni, prior competition, and promo boat drivers.

SAC Mid-Winter Meeting

The conference midwinter meeting is scheduled for the weekend of February 3-5 in Boone, NC. Before the meeting, we’ll go hit the slopes!

The meeting consists of helping decide on the organization of the SAC for the upcoming season, including electing a new Board of Directors, tournament bid acceptance, scholarship distribution policy, and more. If you want to get in the snow and more involved, contact Michael for more information.

Thanks to everybody who came out to our first meeting, we hope you enjoyed the pizza and redbull. We discussed numerous things including getting some current members to step up into new positions.

To be hosted at Whitestone Lake Estates in Talking Rock, Ga. It looks like we have almost a full team of men, but we have plenty of room on the B team for more (and for a full women’s team)
